May is here and that means it’s time for Comic-Con! As one of the biggest library-run events of the year, it’s back for it’s 3rd annual rendition. The 501st Legion of Star Wars Cosplayers will be back in action along with staff from AugustMoon-Anime, and Paradox Comics-N-Cards. Paradox’s Rich recently hosted Candace, our youth librarian, on a weekly podcast to discuss comic culture in the library. Take a listen for some fun discussion. Then take part in another yearly tradition on the first Saturday every May–Free Comic Book Day!
And this year, our Comic-Con panel lineup will also include graphic novel artist Brad Thingvold. Join us for a costume contest, face painting, trivia, games, crafts, prizes, and more on Saturday May 14th, at 2:00 p.m. Bring your whole family and your library card!
After Comic-Con, it’s full steam ahead for Summer Reading Program.
We’re gearing up for our busiest time of year as we fill up our collection with more favorite authors, series, and all kinds of award-winning titles. This year the program will be themed after the Summer Olympics and we’ll have an awesome lineup of presenters and activities all summer long! Wednesdays at 2:00p.m. in June, July, and August, the Moorhead Library is the place to be!
In other news, the library is now in the process of getting a makeover! The community came together last year and helped us fund our meeting rooms to be painted, carpeted, and re-furnished. Updated equipment and additional reservable materials are on the way! And that’s not to mention our brand new computers installed in our labs.
Be sure to stop in and see for yourself!
